The brief was to reconfigure the downstairs wet room which was now not fit for purpose, into a smaller downstairs cloakroom and providing increased storage in the adjacent sitting room.
The project involved removing the shower, reconfiguring the drains, replacing the towel radiator, tile the floor, replace taps and sanitaryware. Install a new partition wall, install flooring, make good and redecorate
Having been empty and uninhabited for some 25 years, the brief was to bring this stone cottage back to life. Having been divided up into many small rooms, the interior was gutted, staircases and interior walls reconfigured, and a leaking roof replaced. First and second fix electrics and a new consumer unit to the latest regulations, together with new plumbing and central heating throughout. A new bathroom was created in a jack & jill style arrangement, allowing both an en-suite and main bathroom in one. Downstairs was configured as an open plan entertaining space with a new kitchen as the heart of the cottage. Finally, completely redecorated, ready for its new tenants to move in.
An apartment untouched for many years, the brief was to create a bright, airy and modern apartment for rent. Walls came down, replastered throughout, new kitchen and bathroom, replumbed and rewired with new consumer unit, redecorated throughout, modern central heating installed, and finally redecorated throughout.
This one was a bit different, the complete fit-out of a large residential boat including fitted kitchen, bathroom, flooring and decoration. Being a boat presented various challenges regarding the non standard shape of various aspects of the kitchen install. New kitchen units were installed under stainless steel countertops and plumbing for appliances and sinks. The bathroom required a double ended bath with shower over, sink and although planning for a macerator toilet, a composting WC was finally chosen. Heating to be provided by the Installation of a wood burning stove, and hot water provided by a closed loop cylinder with electric immersion heater.
As years advanced, the owner of the house was having increasing difficulties getting in and out of the bath so the brief for this job was to adjust the bathroom to make it more usable space, replacing the bath with a shower cubicle, replace the hot water cylinder for an unvented system providing better hot water pressure. The rest of the sanitary ware was reconfigured to give easier access and new taps and drainage installed. Finally, tiling and redecoration of the space.
As part of a larger project undertaken, we installed a rainwater recovery system to a new build property. As we look to become more environmentally friendly consideration must be made for a sustainable future. This project involved the collection of rainwater into a below ground holding tank for use in certain areas of the home where ‘grey water’ use is acceptable for instance in flushing toilets. Additionally, we hold recognised qualifications in the retrofitting of measures to improve the energy consumption of homes. If this is of interest to you, please use the contact form and we can discuss future improvements to your home.
We aren’t thatchers but we can project manage most building repairs and improvements either through ourselves or subcontracting specialist trades. The thatch on this farmhouse had come to the end of its life and beginning to let rainwater in. We engaged a local thatcher and added value by project managing activities on a day to day basis reporting progress back to the client and liaising with specialist trades to completion.
Tastes and fashions change but the underlying skills to install a kitchen, bathroom, decorate or renovate stay fundamentally the same, updated to meet modern regulations driven by health and safety considerations for the occupants of the home. The following although now dated, continue to show our expertise in making a house a home.
The brief for this project was to create a farmhouse kitchen in a newly constructed extension to a period home. The kitchen of your home is its heart and should be warm and enviting, yet stylish and functional. This project included tiled flooring, redecorated walls, purpose built cabinetry and the installation of new appliances (including plumbing and electrics as required.
A pair of period cottages lived in by the same family for 40 years needing significant updating and reconfiguration. The brief was to turn these two small cottages into a single family home.
Work included the localised repair of the timber frame, full rewire and replumb. Installation of new double glazed windows, insulation to walls, floor and roof. Reconfiguration of internal walls to provide a family home built around a new central staircase. Installation of a new central heating system. Repairs and replastering of walls and ceilings. Redecoration throughout.
Building work isn’t really our thing, but when a client asked us to project manage the construction of a two storey extension to their period family home with minimal disruption, we stepped up to the challenge. With the shell completed, we installed bespoke double glazed windows, tiled the roof, installed a family bathroom and decorated throughout.
The brief was to create a large family kitchen, built around the installation of a new electric Aga. Bespoke units were installed in the Inglenook fireplace to frame the newly installed Aga together with new oak wall and base units to give ample storage and work space in this lovely bright and airy dual aspect room. Plumbing and electrics to laid to service the new appliances and facilities. A new floor was laid with ceramic tiles mimicking a brick floor over the existing concrete slab floor so as to not increase the floor level and decorated throughout.
